Year 3 Explore Calke Abbey

This week Year 3 enjoyed a trip to Calke Abbey as part of our geography topic “Why is climate important”. The children learned about the UK’s temperate climate and thought about how plants change through the seasons.

We walked through the vegetable gardens and spotted fruit and vegetables that grow at different times of the year. Along the way we also identified many types of trees.

The highlight for many was seeing deer and squirrels in the grounds. The children were thrilled to watch them up close.

It was a wonderful day of learning outside the classroom and everyone came back full of ideas for our next lessons.
