Year 3 Explore Local History on Newhall Walk

Last week, our Year 3 pupils enjoyed a lovely walk around the local area as part of their history topic, ‘Why should we preserve our locality?’

During the afternoon, pupils explored two listed buildings in Newhall, taking the time to look closely at their features and discuss their history and importance. The walk gave children the opportunity to develop their observational skills while learning why it is important to protect and preserve local landmarks.

As part of the visit, pupils also worked on their sketching skills, carefully drawing architectural details they noticed along the way. This allowed them to combine history and art while slowing down to really notice what makes the buildings special.

The walk was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to deepen their understanding of their local area and feel proud of their community. It was a wonderful afternoon of learning and local pride for everyone involved.
