Year 3 Step Back in Time with Stone Age Workshop
This term, our Year 3 pupils took part in an exciting Stone Age workshop that brought their History learning to life.Linking with this term’s big question – What was new about the Stone Age? – the workshop gave children the chance to explore life thousands of years ago through hands-on activities and immersive experiences.
Pupils tried their hand at carding wool and weaving, used a quern stone to grind wheat into flour, and even churned butter to make milk. They examined real animal skins and artefacts, crafted woven bracelets and built miniature Stone Age houses.
One of the most popular parts of the day was the virtual reality experience, which allowed children to explore a Stone Age site and see what life might have looked like for people living at the time.
It was a brilliant day full of curiosity, creativity and teamwork. The workshop helped deepen pupils’ understanding of the topic and gave them a real sense of what life was like in the Stone Age — all while having lots of fun!
